DAYTONA BEACH SHORES REAL ESTATE

(SHORE, WE’RE NOT MAKING IT UP- LIFE REALLY IS BETTER HERE!)

Daytona Beach Shores, Life is Better here!

Daytona Beach Shores, Life is Better here!

Life Is Better Here” or so the slogan goes for Daytona Beach Shores, one of the premier resort and retirement meccas in the Greater Daytona Beach area. Located on a barrier island that separates the mainland from the beachside, Daytona Beach Shores is accessed from the Dunlawton Causeway (William V. Chappell, Jr. Bridge). The City of Daytona Beach lies to the north. The unincorporated community of Wilbur by the Sea lies south. To the southwest lie portions of the City of Port Orange, unincorporated Volusia County and the Halifax River. To the east lies the mighty Atlantic Ocean.

Daytona Beach Shores was incorporated in 1960. Although it has experienced growth spurts particularly during the 1970’s and 1980’s it has remained relatively small, with less than 5,000 permanent residents. Perhaps due to the fact that the resident base is composed largely of retirement age persons, there are no public schools in Daytona Beach Shores. Neither are there any industrial real estate areas. Both these types of services are found in the neighboring communities, primarily across the Halifax River, on the mainland.

Although there are no manufacturing and industrial areas in the city, there is plenty of commercial real estate within Daytona Beach Shores. The main commercial and tourist thoroughfare is South Atlantic Avenue (A1A). There are several shopping plazas, strip centers, miniature golf facilities and pharmacies found along this roadway.

Recreational opportunities abound in Daytona Beach Shores. Whether its swimming, surfing, fishing boating, golfing, biking or playing tennis, it’s all available in Daytona Beach Shores. For tennis players, the Oceans Racquet and Recreation Club is open to the public and members. For golfers the Oceans West Golf Club is semi-private. The beach and the river are open to the public. There are a number of public parks and recreational facilities within the City. There are outdoor activities available for all in Daytona Beach Shores.

Daytona Beach Shores has an enviable location between two bodies of water, the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River/Intracoastal Waterway. This is a boon to those looking for prime real estate. Vacant lots still exist within Daytona Beach Shores. Single family residences and condominiums offer a good selection of properties. Daytona Beach Shores has some of the most luxurious condominiums and highrises in the area. Both oceanfront and riverfront properties are available. The area between Peninsula Drive and S. Atlantic Avenue is occupied by a mixture of upscale to exclusive properties with well-kept lawns.

For day to day living though, the Daytona Beach Shores area is compact, attractive and easy to get around. The City has been busy creating new parks along S. Atlantic Avenue and installing underground utilities to enhance the aesthetic appeal of S. Atlantic Avenue (A-1-A). This small coastal town just keeps improving!
